Mary's Southern Grill in Young Harris

Visited the area from out of town & with me not knowing the area, it was hard to find a place to eat that reminded me of home. But, I came across Mary's Southern Grill and I'm glad I did because the they had exactly what I needed. On top of that the staff was friendly, I couldnt have asked for more! If you're from out of town and in need of a place to have a good breakfast, stop by!

Excellent food, excellent service by Tiffany! Super friendly and we all got a different version of the trout. Can't be beat! Went back the next day to get some pie and jars of jam for our trip back to eastern North Carolina. We will return!

Great lunch. Just missed breakfast time which ended at 10:45 AM. Good service but did get cold black eyed peas from refrigerator!

There is no better breakfast in Young Harris. Biscuits are amazing, no matter how you like them (with homemade jams, smothered in tasty gravy, or as an egg and bacon sandwich). I usually get the corned beef hash with 2 eggs over medium and it is always great. I've had their omelets and pancakes as well and nothing has ever disappointed. Only caveat is to be sure to bring cash or check because they don't take cards (though they do have an ATM).

Love Mary's. Good food and friendly wait staff.

Absolute best breakfast!! Not just in town, but maybe anywhere. It’s that good! Service is always friendly, food is incredible, and I never pass up the chance to eat here when visiting. Everything on the menu is delicious, but I’m partial to the biscuits.

They have lunch as well, but I prefer breakfast. Just be sure to have cash, they don't take cards.

While on a shopping trip into Hayesville, I did a quick search for local restaurants. Asked the shop owners about Mary's and they recommended it. After our lunch visit, I can see why. I never would have seen the place just driving by, but now that we know where it is we'll be back. Great veggies and southern-style cooking. My type of place - nothing pretentious - just good food and friendly folks.

Dinner was absolutely delicious home cooking will certainly be back.

Excellent choice casual eating. Many choices on the menu, plus daily specials. Generous portions at reasonable prices with friendly, attentive service. I had local mountain trout with 2 sides for 8.95. Very good. Carmel walnut apple pie, served warm for dessert. You can get a half order if you choose.

Nice little local dinner. Good coffee and best breakfast around.

My husband loves going to Mary's on Friday evenings, when he's in the area, for catfish. Everything is pretty good, but don't go late. Tonight they ran out of hushpuppys, and a few other things by 7:30. I got cucumber tomato salad, and it was about 3 bites along with a lot of liquid. Another member of our party had a normal looking serving. I would have given 3 stars, but I know it's usually better.

Ate a hearty meal with good people. They don't accept credit or debit cards so bring cash or check!

You know before you walk in the place is serving some great southern food..Parking lot is filled with locals; menu is simply comfort food... I wasn't so comfortable walking out as we were pleasantly stuffed.... Try it.

Clean, fast and cozy. I enjoyed $0.99 pancakes with eggs and bacon. Great staff and enjoyed it. Warning drinks are $3.25 and cash or check only.

Good country cooking with a casual atmosphere.

SUGAR IN A JAR ON THE TABLE! I feel like that should say enough right there. The portions are large (you could probably share the pancakes as they are huge), the bacon is really good and cooked perfectly. The coffee cups are so big we only needed one refill. And the waitress was super friendly (and slightly a mind reader, as I was not quite awake and was stumbling over my words). For kicks you should read the back of the menu.

Best omelette I have ever had! The everything omelette is so amazing! Great service too! Only downfall: they don’t take plastic. However, it’s definitely worth it for as good as it tastes!

I had the vegetable plate. on another review I saw these awesome looking fried potatoes but they were in the breakfast menu and I was there for dinner. Ask and ye shall receive! Only reason they didn’t get a 5 was they have a sign at register saying no debit cards accepted. They provide an ATM which cost an extra $3. Didn’t mind paying $10 (including tip) for vegetable plate but $13 not so much-

This is truly the perfect place to eat. Maybe that is why it was packed. The atmosphere makes you feel like you have "come home". We were traveling on vacation and each morning we were there, we saw "regulars coming in, just like us. The decor was perfect, the staff was awesome and the food was great. I can honestly say, that even if we lived in the next town, we would make the drive to eat at Mary's. Mary, I don't know you, but I want to say "Thanks". You have made a huge impact in this world. How many people can say that.!

Very homey atmosphere and great staff! No food compares to Mary’s home-cooking type menu in town!!! I’ve never had a bad experience here. I can see that regulars are treated a little better than newcomers, so would suggest being more open to new faces. Will return as many times as my bank account will let me!!!

In my humble opinion, Mary's has the best breakfast around. The menu is vast and has plenty of variety. The staff is always pleasant and they seem to genuinely enjoy what they do. This place has a lot of regulars and it's easy to see why. Great food and a friendly, relaxed environment. GO TO MARY'S! You will not be disappointed.

The wait staff is friendly & courteous. The food arrived in a timely manner. The waitress checked back with us several times. I had breakfast and it was very good, especially the large homemade biscuit. Yummy! The meals are reasonably priced. The only downside is that they don't take credit cards - cash & checks only. Otherwise it was a lovely experience to dine at Mary's Southern Grill.

Best Breakfast we had while on our trip to Hiawassee Ga. We will definitely be back!
